We all go through times in our lives when we don’t feel very good. As I’ve taught you many times in these articles the reason you don’t feel good is you are thinking about what you don’t want in your life or fearing bad things will happen. A very valuable skill to acquire is that of interrupting your negative thought patterns. The key is to catch yourself any time your self-talk goes negative or you start worrying.
Do you remember when people would wear a rubber band around their wrist? Then if they said a bad word or did something they didn’t want to do, they snapped the band? Do you know of anyone who actually changed behavior using this technique? While I know numerous people who have, I’m not suggesting you inflict bodily harm on yourself every time you think negatively. Instead, let’s create a positive pattern interrupt to get your focus back on what you desire.
Another valuable strategy to transmute limiting beliefs and eliminate emotional blocks when you don’t even know what they are is the use of affirmations. When you feel bad and don’t know why, you can usually at the very least put a label on your emotion (anger, worry, doubt, fear, resentment, etc.). Once you’ve got that “label” then you can simply insert that word that describes what you’re feeling into the proper affirmation to release and transmute it into a positive feeling.
The key is to always release the disempowering emotion or feeling or limiting belief and then Re-Align with your Higher Self and Re-Focus your attention. This highly effective strategy that accomplishes both things simultaneously is the use of what I call “Power Affirmations.” Charles Haanel, author of the famous Master Key System (the program Bill Gates supposedly read prior to creating the operating system for the PC and launching Microsoft) would prescribe affirmations to his students in order that they might direct their minds purposely.
How about when you just feel negative energy or emotion and cannot identify a belief that’s blocking you? In addition to beliefs that we can actually pinpoint in our lives, many times things happened during childhood before we could even speak or understand. This is energy stored in our bodies, in our subconscious mind, and we may not even be aware of it other than through a feeling of discomfort in certain situations.
When intense things happened, they might have caused extremely strong feelings or emotions that we now label trauma. These intense emotions create unintelligible sensations that move us in ways that seem unreasonable to the logical, conscious mind. Nevertheless, they are very real in our inner world and their effects can be certainly felt in our outer world.
It is important that when we feel negative feelings or emotions, we acknowledge and release them in order to center our energies and maintain our alignment. They are our signals that there is some fear, belief, trauma, emotional scar or negative program playing in our subconscious mind. If not addressed, these emotions can cause us to self-sabotage and not achieve our desires or goals.
In the past several articles we have been talking about how beliefs determine the reality you will live in your life. Beliefs have the power to easily make you super successful, rich and happy or they can also make you unsuccessful, broke and miserable. The Law of Life most certainly is the “Law of Belief” which is what the book “The Secret” failed at communicating effectively.
So if you have some beliefs (as we all do) that are keeping you stuck and preventing you from living your best life what can you do about it? If you’ve been following me for any length of time you know I’m about using effective strategies that produce immediate results so let’s dive into today’s topic! A very powerful and effective way to change beliefs is by using the “Table Top Belief Changer”. Remember, a belief is like a table with the top representing the idea or concept in question and the legs the references that support the idea and giving it its sense of “trueness.”
If you remove the references, you return the belief to an idea again and if you put new references or legs under it, you change it to a different belief. If the old belief you changed limits or restricts your success and you transform it into one that serves you instead, the new belief will produce better results in your life.
In our last article I spoke about changing limiting beliefs. You identified what the major ones were that were holding you back from having the life you desire and deserve. One of the key elements you need in order to change those beliefs is to decide what you want to change them to.
The biggest problem people have in life is that they are unhappy or dissatisfied where they are and want to be someplace else but they haven’t decided where that place is! One Universal Law you must be aware of is that the Universe abhors (hates) a vacuum and will immediately rush in to fill the empty space. An important point to understand is that if the space you just cleared was a negative or limiting belief or assumption then an equally negative one will replace it unless YOU decide what POSITIVE belief or assumption you will replace it with.
Before we begin the all-important work on changing limiting beliefs and releasing emotional blocks, I want to share a story with you.
Betty was a skeptical attendee at one of my seminars. She was an attractive woman but it was her eyes that drew my attention because they conveyed a deep sadness. During the first day she came up to me and said she was having trouble with the exercises because she didn’t know what she wanted. I told her to pretend that she knew and do the exercises acting as if she did. On the second day, we began teaching release techniques (in this case meridian tapping) to remove emotional blocks and after several hours of watching other people release on major issues, she came up to the front of the room and said she needed to go next. As soon as we started applying the technique, she started crying and talking a mile a minute about her emotional scars.
It turned out she had been raped at the age of four and consistently sexually abused by her stepfather from the ages of eight to fourteen. Then as a young woman she had been date raped twice. As you can imagine, she was buried under years of guilt and fear as, unfortunately, abused women are made to feel in our society.
It’s been a while since my last blog post. As some of you may know I have been accelerating my knowledge of Internet marketing strategies, studying under Brendon Burchard for the past 9 months. I also did a Spanish Market launch of my Millionaire Mindset Online program (my first one) and did a Facebook Fanpage campaign to achieve over 100,000 “Likes” which kept me very busy throughout the past 6 months.
However, I’m very excited to be back here and to keep providing greater value to all of my friends through this medium. I am ready to resume posting on my blog regularly every week once again so keep an eye out for a new article (sometimes even two) every week!
