How to Know What Beliefs are Blocking Your Success

On August 30, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

What limiting beliefs do you have that you need to change in order to achieve what you want out of life?

The key to changing limiting beliefs is to understand that your beliefs must be congruent with your desires or you will be psychologically reversed and self-sabotage. You need to create a mindset that will automatically produce what you desire. The secret to doing that is in your beliefs.

This is why after explaining the Cycle of Life and the Fundamentals of Conditioning to you I began with the “end in mind,” by immediately getting you to define clearly your most compelling desires.  All of the changes you need to make in your life and the motivation you need to make them are contained in the dreams and intentions you have defined.

Just as your identity must be congruent with what you desire, your belief systems also need to be congruent with your desires. To have Point B results you must think, believe and act like a Point B type person.

What beliefs do you need to change now in order to be congruent with your desires and dreams? Maybe it’s something like:

1- I’m too old/or too young

2- I don’t have enough education/the right education

3- I don’t deserve success because of my past mistakes

4- People are against me/are out to get me

5- I’m black, Hispanic, white (I don’t have the right ethnic background)

6- The economy is so bad that you can’t make money today

7- You have to have money to make money

8- My duties as a mother/father (whatever) hold me back

Take a few minutes to identify three to five limiting beliefs that are not congruent with what you desire out of life. So stop reading and do this now…

************************************************************

Now that you’ve figured out several beliefs that have been limiting you from achieving your success, set them aside so I can help you change them in the next article and read on…

Beliefs are organized into giant sets or generalizations in certain areas of life and give you a sense of certainty as to how things work and how things should be. These giant sets constitute your Philosophy of Life. The key to remember is that your beliefs not only represent what reality is to you but they continue to manifest current and future realities in your life. That is why the Law of Life is the Law of Belief. As you believe, it is done unto you.

This is the Law of Attraction at work but when “bad” things happen, we resist the idea that we have attracted them into our lives.  It’s not that we want to attract the bad stuff, it’s that we have conflicting beliefs that we are unaware of that are creating resistance and that is what attracts the bad stuff. Until we clear the conflict (which is why you’ll hear me talk about “clearing”) your subconscious does not have precise instructions and will continue to produce results based on the old unconscious belief.

Psychologists sometimes call this being psychologically reversed, which simply means you have conflicting desires or beliefs. Your conscious mind wants one thing while your subconscious wants the opposite. As we’ve already seen, when this occurs, who wins the battle? The subconscious wins 100% of the time!!!

Let’s use an example so you fully understand.

An example many people can relate to is the desire to lose weight. You may have set a goal or made a New Years resolution many, many times to lose those unwanted fifteen – twenty pounds, which may have turned into thirty, forty or fifty by now.  Consciously you want to lose the weight, but unconsciously there is a belief or a series of beliefs that are keeping you from achieving your objective.  It may be that as a child you were told to make sure you cleaned your plate because there are a lot of hungry people all over the world with nothing to eat. Perhaps as you were growing up, whenever you felt bad or had a problem, one of your programmers (I mean teachers) would give you some chocolate or candy, or cookies or ice-cream to cheer you up and make you feel better.  And so that developed a pattern that whenever you felt badly, some candy, etc. made you feel better.

It can be as complex as being in a relationship with somebody you really thought you loved and being terribly hurt when they left you.  You gained weight from any combination of beliefs from the past, including, eating makes me feel better. As you got heavier, your subconscious began using the extra pounds as a protection mechanism to keep people away.  Now every time you try to lose the weight, your subconscious says, Oh no, you are forgetting that time we got really hurt.  Consequently, it keeps you from losing the weight you desire to lose, in order to “protect” you.

This is what resistance is and it can happen in any area of your life.  You may ask, how do I know if I have resistance? And my reply to you is: is there anything you desire in your life that you currently don’t have? Unless your answer is, it’s on its way to me right now, and you say it with absolute certainty… you have resistance.

Any time that you don’t have what you desire in your life, you can be sure that you have resistance. You have conflicting beliefs and your subconscious is keeping you from having what you desire.  Until you release the resistance or get clear, you will not have what you desire.

In my next article we will go into depth on the topic of money blocks and then proceed to how to break through and transform them so we can get what we truly want in life…

How to Direct the Power of All Powers

On August 23, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

Our buried emotions, fears, beliefs and programs are just energy infused with information. That’s what a thought is, a representation of an ideal or concept which is essentially energy infused with information.

A thought that you think many times becomes a belief and beliefs are causes.  Beliefs put the Law of Attraction into operation, create our vibration, and therefore they are what create our success or failure, our wealth or lack, our happiness or sorrow.  We need to really dig into this topic, so please pay close attention.

A belief is nothing more than a sense of certainty about what something means. It’s an idea that has so many references behind it that you feel certain it’s true.

The important thing is… It is not necessarily true. It could very easily be an absolute lie.  It could go totally against the truth, but since we have the belief that it is true programmed, our subconscious (our inner power that is working all the time to produce results) will make it true for us in our experience!

Think of a belief as a table. The top of the table is an idea or a thought.  The legs are the references, distinctions and concepts that, through repetition, have given you a sense of certainty regarding the idea or thought.

The table top without the legs would only be a flat piece of wood or glass or whatever material your table is made of. A belief without its legs (which are references and distinctions) is just an idea, which may or may not be true or even relevant in your life.

It is the legs holding up the flat piece of wood that make it a table. The idea or thought without the references would not be a belief, just an idea or thought. So it’s the references and the repetition of those references that create the sense of certainty that makes the idea a belief.

The Law of Life is the Law of Belief. Whatever you believe is true is the reality that you will create for yourself.  Having beliefs that serve us and empower us to attract what we truly desire is the key to having riches in every area of life.

Sometimes our beliefs have absolutely nothing to do with our current reality. I know people who fight and act like children when they get around their siblings at holiday time and they are now in their 40s and 50s! It’s amazing how many of us are limited by traditions, which are just collective beliefs, and we never question them.

What would you have to do to take a belief you currently have that is limiting you and change it?

There are many ways to change beliefs and in this training program I’m going to teach you powerful technologies to do just that. One way to change beliefs is to question the validity of the references that uphold that belief or associate enough pain to the belief that it causes you to question the references. If you remove the validity of the references, you change the belief or remove it altogether.

Let’s start learning these strategies by using a very simple example. One of my old, limiting beliefs, a belief that kept me from a high level of success for a long time until I changed it was: “I don’t deserve success.”

I had that belief because I was in a hurry to grow up and was trying to bite off more than I could chew.  My parents, grandparents and teachers were always telling me to “slow down, you’re still young, you still have a lot to learn and you have to pay the price for success.”

When I acted impulsively or missed the mark, they would say, “Remember, you’re still young and have a long way to go and a big price to pay before you are ready to achieve real success.”  Consequently, I became really sensitive to the fact that I was too inexperienced and not good enough to attempt big things. The message I heard in my subconscious mind was “I don’t deserve success because I haven’t learned everything I need to or paid the price yet”

Later when I started working in sales and would call on people, they’d say, my gosh you’re so young to be a financial planner or insurance expert. Even when it was a compliment, I was so self-conscious that it set off an unconscious trigger to my feelings of being undeserving and the belief I had developed that, “I’m not good enough yet so I don’t deserve success.”  As ridiculous as this may sound to you, this belief affected my level of confidence, self worth and my feeling of worthiness to attain high levels of success.

It wasn’t until I began questioning my beliefs that I realized that I could change this.  And then I went and replaced that belief with a really strong and empowering one… “I am as successful as I decide to be.”

I began to realize that my success was a function of directing my mind towards my goals and maintaining a positive mental attitude, while executing my plan of action in the faith that it is already done.

I changed my references by realizing that my limiting belief had been formed when I was young and wasn’t even valid in the new context where it was affecting me, namely business success. I also realized that if I kept this belief, it would have very negative consequences in my life.  It was keeping me broke!

I linked enough pain to the old belief and enough pleasure to the new one that once I came to this realization/revelation I turned it into an empowering belief. It’s really as simple as that in most cases, unless its something deep-seated from a very early age or something so painful that you’re suppressing it, but I’ll even show you how to dig those up.

The bottom line is that our beliefs can lead us to either create the life of our dreams or destroy our dreams and leave us with a life of misery and dullness.

In my next article we’re going to dig deeper into what is blocking you from having the things you really want and show you how to change your limiting beliefs into empowering ones, so until then…

While I’ve always been a big proponent of turning desires into burning intentions and focusing on their attainment until they become physical realities, it is important to understand that we have limiting beliefs and programs running in the background of our subconscious mind that often block their achievement.

As you learned in previous articles we have all been conditioned by well-meaning people who tried to protect us, teach us and guide us. Remember, they couldn’t give us what they didn’t have and they didn’t know what they didn’t know. They did the very best they could, according to their level of awareness. However, that doesn’t change the fact that we all have painful emotional scars, traumas, limiting beliefs and negative programs running in our subconscious that keep us from having the results we desire.

My own life offers a good example of this.  I’m sharing it with you so you can see how negative programming comes about and understand how important it is to overcome it.

I was born in Cuba, the day after Fidel Castro went into the Sierra Madre Mountains to begin the revolution. The mood in the country, and in my family, was one of apprehension.  My parents we so concerned about guerilla fighting breaking out, they went to the hospital early.  Would the fear and instability that surrounded my family when I was born affect me later in life?

Castro took over the country in December of 1959, when I was three years old.  Shortly thereafter he started taking people’s homes, land, belongings and property. In my parents’ neighborhood, the military came to take one of their friend’s houses and when he refused, they just shot him dead, right in front of his family.

Imagine the turmoil, negativity and violence that happened during the first years of my life. I was surrounded by uncertainty and fear as my parents tried to figure out what to do.

They applied for visas to Spain, the United States and Costa Rica, intent on getting out as quickly as possible. The visa from Spain came first, so they prepared to leave.

My parents, my sisters and I left everything behind and fled from Cuba with only the clothes we were wearing, one suitcase and a $1000 bill my father had smuggled out in his shoe. We began a new life in Spain and subsequently came to the United States a year later.

I’ve interviewed my parents in the past several years because I wanted to get to the bottom of all the “garbage” in me.  I could see the effects and wanted to know the cause, so I asked them to go back in their memory banks and dig it all up.

My mother said that as soon as the airplane left Cuba, I started throwing up liquid bile. I understand now that my body was reacting to all the fear I felt coming from my parents, all the worry I was absorbing but, being a little kid, didn’t know how to release.

These experiences affected me negatively for years and years without my realizing it. I was too young to understand but I knew I had to leave everything behind and move to a strange place.  My parents saw everything they and my grandfather (who had labored for over 50 years) worked for taken from them, literally overnight.  This sense of insecurity became part of my consciousness, although I didn’t realize how powerful this deep-seated fear of loss was until years later.

Those fears were a motive for my working hard and striving to get ahead in life, but at the same time produced an unconscious sensation of fear that somehow I could lose my wealth the same as my grandfather and my parents had.  They believed—and unknowingly taught me to believe—that no matter how hard you work, or how much wealth you are able to accumulate, someone can come along and take it all from you.

As you’ve probably guessed by now, I experienced that type of loss in my life because I was conditioned and unconsciously trained to expect it.

I had attained all of my success in business by totally focusing my attention on my dreams and excluding everything else from my view. But, as I attained more and more financial success, I still felt an emptiness inside, which prompted me to seriously start searching for my true purpose in life. As I became more dissatisfied, I allowed myself to focus on what was wrong with the situation, again using the old familiar fear of loss to motivate myself as I had done in the past. The results were disastrous…

After having made many millions of dollars in business, I went through a time where I experienced tremendous financial losses from things seemingly beyond my control. I lost millions from foreign currency devaluations, dishonest business partners, bad investments and malicious attacks on my businesses. I lost my multi-million dollar house on the water and my wife, daughter and I were actually homeless for almost a month.

What I couldn’t fathom back then was how I could create so much value for others, and still lose so much. In hindsight, it is evident to me that I didn’t understand how much buried fear I had. Knowing what I know today, I realize that a series of events triggered these deeply buried fears. Drastic political and governmental changes in various countries affecting my global businesses activated my hidden fears and fear-based advisors influenced me to make poor business decisions.

The fear of loss engrained in me during my formative years was sparked and blended with my current fears, creating a financial whirlwind in my life. Ironically, I used the very same power I’d used to create success and wealth (the power, consistency and intensity of my focus)—except now in reverse (focusing on what I didn’t want to happen)—and the fears that were buried deep in my subconscious mind attracted what I was fearful of into my life.

Remember that thoughts, beliefs and emotions are the cause of all experiences and conditions, even if they are buried in your subconscious (this is how the Law of Attraction works… every time). However, once I realized I had this unconscious limiting program, it actually started me on a whole new path of learning at a much higher level of consciousness.

In my family’s case, the one thing they didn’t focus on was the fact that if you created success once, you can do it again. Thank God my study of principles led me to create a belief system that said: You might take my material goods but you can’t take what created my success, which is my mindset and faith in my unlimited Source, which is God within me.  My attitude was, I’ll just recreate it, only this time it’ll be bigger than ever and built on an unshakeable foundation!

In actuality, it was a blessing in disguise because it made me realize that although I knew many powerful principles, there was still something lacking, still something I needed to learn in order to be able to fulfill my purpose of empowering people to know their inner power and use it to be free and live their dreams.

Finding and living your true purpose can be very challenging because most of us were taught that we must work hard to make money and then, if there’s time left over, we can have fun. The presupposition here is work is something difficult that you hate to do and cannot have fun doing. The reality is that making money is really not a problem once you learn that money is just a measure of the value you are providing, and then giving more value than you’re paid for. Making money when you live your passion is actually easy and fun. Consequently, from that time forward I have been on a search to truly master the universal laws at the deepest level in order to live my purpose in life.

In my next article we’re going to dig into what is blocking you from having the things you really want so you can eliminate them (and by the way… just like with me… they’re not your fault!) so until then…

How to Create Automatic Results

On August 8, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

Let’s look at the exercise we did in the article on Designing Your Life on Purpose. You should be very motivated right now because you are truly starting to design your life on purpose. With what you’ve just learned on the power of commitment, you are in a position to turn those desires into intentions and turn them into physical reality right now.

We did this brainstorming in order to get to a point where we can identify the main goals, or what I prefer to call Intentions, that you have in the key areas of life—Financial, Physical, Relationships and Emotional.

Look at your four lists of intentions, (Be, Do, Have and Give) and pick out your top one- or two-year intentions from each list.  Figure out which are your top short-term intentions for each of these areas. It can be several (three to five) things in each area that really compel you.

I will help you construct a Positive Intention Declaration in each of the four areas that you can read every day in order to attract your desires into your life automatically.

The purpose of this exercise centers on the Law of Attraction, which states that what you focus on continually you attract into your life. When you’re continually focusing on whatever the ideal picture is for you, wouldn’t you be excited if you had already achieved all of those things? Of course you would, so this is creating a mental attitude of success, positive expectancy, appreciation, happiness and confidence, which is the vibration you are sending out into the world. Like attracts like, so by the Law of Attraction this is what you are drawing to yourself automatically.

The thing is… you’re not going to write your declarations stating: In one or two years I will Be that, Do that and Have that.

That would always keep these things one to two years in the future.

Most people, however, have a problem with stating things in the first person, present tense. In other words, due to your previous conditioning, if you state, I am this, I have that, I am doing this, your sub-conscious mind will sit there and go BS, BS, I’m broke, I’m sick, I’m miserable, that’s a lie and you will self-sabotage because of a conflict in beliefs.

The key is to state the declarations in the first person permissive, which is: I allow myself to be, do, have and give. Unless you already have successful experience with the use of affirmations and declarations and have already achieved some important successes in your life with “I Am” statements, stick with the first person permissive. Otherwise, your subconscious mind will not respond because of psychological reversal.

To clarify, the exercise is this: For each key area in life (Financial, Relationships, Physical, Emotional) create a very powerful and impacting paragraph that fires you up! You want to be descriptive enough, yet concise, so that when you read it, it fires your positive emotions, faith and expectancy.  You’ll develop a mindset of positive expectancy and confidence through a process of reviewing these declarations daily at specific times during the day, so that you stay perfectly focused and intent on them.

For example, maybe one of your BE goals, is to be a millionaire.  And maybe some of your HAVE goals are to earn $500,000 a year, live in a 5,000 square foot home on a couple of acres near a lake and have a BMW 750Li. Maybe traveling around the world with your family is one of your DO goals.  So, take and construct from these areas a Financial Intention Declaration of who you’re being, what you’re doing, what you’re having and what you’re giving, and make it into a paragraph.

Here’s an example of a Positive Intention Declaration (PID) for each area.

Financial PID: I allow myself to be (I am) a multimillionaire, earning $500,000.00 a year, living in a 5,000 square foot Mediterranean home on a lake, driving a BMW 750Li, traveling to Tahiti with my family, and living my passion in life while creating a better world by helping to raise the collective consciousness through my Global Spirituality Foundation…

Relationship PID: I allow myself to have (I have) a loving, romantic relationship with my life partner and soul mate, sharing all the joys and adventures of life. My relationships with my children are full of happiness. I allow myself to have harmonious win-win business relationships with principle-based people who share my vision. I’m attracting into my life like-minded, spiritually enlightened friends, etc.

Physical PID: I allow myself to have my ideal body. I’m lean, trim and fit. People are always telling me I look great in my bathing suit. I allow myself to have a laser-sharp mind that continually serves me.  I allow myself to have perfect, vibrant health, full of energy and vitality, feeling powerful and full of life constantly, I allow myself to be a great __________ (fill in the blank… tennis player, swimmer, athlete, dancer) etc.

Emotional PID: I allow myself to be a “state master,” continually directing my emotional states, focusing on what I desire consistently and feeling that it’s already mine. I give empowering meaning to everything that happens in my life and I’m continually releasing all negative feelings, emotions and memories as they come up. I allow myself to have a belief system that serves me and empowers me and I allow myself to live in happy, cheerful powerful states, manifesting the life of my dreams on purpose.

Now that you have these descriptive examples, find your top Intentions in your BE, DO, HAVE, GIVE desires and create a compelling declaration that, by your commitment, converts desire to intention. Do it Now!

In order to change your life, conditions and circumstances, you have to change your state of consciousness or mindset! The best way to do that is to get clear on what really moves you and drives you and inspires you to go to new heights of awareness and use your imagination to feel as if you already are, have and do this, and then use it as a lever to automatically produce these results.

Whether you like it or not you are already doing this to produce the results you’re getting in your life right now… automatically!  If you don’t like these results, could it possibly be that you didn’t specifically decide what results you truly wanted? And, if you didn’t clearly ask life for what you wanted and additionally sent life mixed signals… how could you get what you desired?

Your assignment is to read these declarations first thing in the morning when you wake up and last thing before you go to sleep at night and imagine yourself as already being that person, having and doing what you desire.

Remember that just reading all of this will not create the changes you want in your future. You must put these principles to work in your life! Apply these strategies and do what you’ve never done before. Step out of your comfort zone and as Nike says “just do it!”

In my next article we’re going to explore what could be blocking you from having the things you really want so you can eliminate them (and by the way… they’re not your fault!) so until then…

Please leave me your comments and questions below and share this post with everyone you care about. How to Harness the Power of Intention

On August 1, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

The power that concentrates and animates your power to create whatever you want in your life is Commitment. Commitments are irreversible decisions that convert wishes and desires into total intent backed by action.

The life you are living today is the result of the decisions you made in the past. The life you’ll have in the future will be the result of the decisions you make today.

In Return of The Jedi Luke Skywalker goes back to see Yoda to finish his training to become a Jedi knight. When he enters the atmosphere of the planet Yoda is on, he loses control of his ship and crash-lands his Starfighter in a swamp. Yoda tells him to concentrate the full force of his attention and will it (intend it) to come out of the swamp. Luke closes his eyes and concentrates and the Starfighter starts rising up out of the water.  Then he loses control and the ship falls back into the swamp.

Yoda tells him to concentrate harder and make the ship rise out of the swamp. Luke tries again and the same thing happens. Again, Yoda tells him to concentrate harder and Luke tells him, “Yoda, I’m trying as hard as I can.” Yoda turns to him, shakes his head in disgust and says,

“NO! TRY NOT, DO OR DO NOT, THERE IS NO TRY”

Think about it a moment—this is a very deep message Yoda is giving Luke. And, it’s also a huge message for you and me! What does this mean… there is only do or do not? Where does do or not do come from?

As you’re reading this, you probably have access to a pen or pencil or may be using a highlighter to highlight key concepts. I want you to lay the pen or highlighter down in front of you. Now, “try” to pick up your pen. You might be laughing now saying, what do you mean try?  I’ll pick it up if I want to or not pick it up if I don’t want to.

Do or not do is a decision you make. Obviously, it’s a simple decision with something easy like picking up your pen. Now what happens if I tell you to pick up your pen and write a twenty-page report on quantum physics?

Do or not do becomes a function of your belief in your ability to write the report. It’s also a reflection of how much knowledge you have about the topic, which is obviously a reference that causes you to have or not have belief in your ability to write it.

There’s also your desire to write the report. If you wanted to do it badly enough, if there was a big enough reason or reward for you to do it, you would get a book on quantum physics, read it and write the report. The point is that in our culture today, we use the word “try” as an escape route from the absolute total commitment implied in making a true decision.

It’s a way to escape the reality of DO or NOT DO.

Luke didn’t believe in his ability to lift the Starship out of the swamp with the power of his mind. So he tried, which means, “I’ll do it if I can without total commitment” (which means no going back), which of course doesn’t work with things that require total commitment.

What does the word Decision mean?  It comes from the Latin root “De Cesare” which means to cut away from completely. When you make a decision, you literally cut away from any and all other options or alternatives. Today we would actually call it a commitment, because people change their decisions almost like they change their underwear.

When was the last time you made one of those De Cesare types of decisions or commitments?

Typically, when we say, “I made a decision,” we mean, “I’ll do it if it’s easy. I’ll do it if it’s comfortable.  I’ll do it if I don’t get flack from other people.  I’ll do it if success comes easily and quickly.  I’ll do it if I have the time.”  Rarely does it mean—I’ll do it no matter what!

To truly succeed in any area of life, our decisions have to mean— I’ll do it no matter what!

When a true decision is made, action is its natural consequence. In the commitment, the action is birthed. When you create the habit of making true decisions, you begin to have faith in your decisions because each is a total commitment. Then you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the result is around the corner.

When you make a DeCesare decision, you know that all you have to do is put in the proper amount of action and you’ll get the results. The key is the commitment. You can change your entire life in one moment with the power of a true decision. As a matter of fact, you’ll never put forth the action required without first making a real decision.

There’s a verse in the Bible that says;  “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things yet unseen.” Faith is total belief and conviction that something that is not seen is real. Commitment is what unlocks the door to mountain-moving faith.

When you really learn how to make De Cesare decisions, they become a thing of power and in that decision the goal is already achieved because it is that level of commitment that turns desires into full-blown intentions.

All of a sudden, you begin to attract the people and circumstances needed to achieve the result you want. You begin to see the opportunity in problems and realize that they were things you needed in order to achieve your goal.

Decision is the partner of focus. Decision is intention and focus is attention. As Deepak Chopra states in The 7 Spiritual Laws of Success, the two qualities inherent in consciousness are attention and intention.

Attention energizes and intention transforms.

The quality of intention on the object of attention will orchestrate an infinity of space-time events to bring about the outcome intended. When you decide something, since you have cut away from all other alternatives, you totally and unequivocally intend to make this a reality in your life. Since your intention is to create what you decided, you maintain your attention or focus on it.

The natural question you continually ask yourself is, “What do I need to do now in order to move closer to my intended outcome?” The natural by-product is action in the present moment and an “opportunity consciousness” that is continually looking for ways to make it happen. This is also known as “present moment awareness.”

When you focus on your dream and decide that it will be your reality, you will live and act on it as if it is already your reality and you will achieve whatever you want in life.

In my next article I’m going to tie this together with the exercise you did in Designing Your Life to teach you a powerful strategy to make your dreams true INTENTIONS in order to give you the power to actually achieve them, so until then…
