How to Create Automatic Results

On August 8, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

Let’s look at the exercise we did in the article on Designing Your Life on Purpose. You should be very motivated right now because you are truly starting to design your life on purpose. With what you’ve just learned on the power of commitment, you are in a position to turn those desires into intentions and turn them into physical reality right now.

We did this brainstorming in order to get to a point where we can identify the main goals, or what I prefer to call Intentions, that you have in the key areas of life—Financial, Physical, Relationships and Emotional.

Look at your four lists of intentions, (Be, Do, Have and Give) and pick out your top one- or two-year intentions from each list.  Figure out which are your top short-term intentions for each of these areas. It can be several (three to five) things in each area that really compel you.

I will help you construct a Positive Intention Declaration in each of the four areas that you can read every day in order to attract your desires into your life automatically.

The purpose of this exercise centers on the Law of Attraction, which states that what you focus on continually you attract into your life. When you’re continually focusing on whatever the ideal picture is for you, wouldn’t you be excited if you had already achieved all of those things? Of course you would, so this is creating a mental attitude of success, positive expectancy, appreciation, happiness and confidence, which is the vibration you are sending out into the world. Like attracts like, so by the Law of Attraction this is what you are drawing to yourself automatically.

The thing is… you’re not going to write your declarations stating: In one or two years I will Be that, Do that and Have that.

That would always keep these things one to two years in the future.

Most people, however, have a problem with stating things in the first person, present tense. In other words, due to your previous conditioning, if you state, I am this, I have that, I am doing this, your sub-conscious mind will sit there and go BS, BS, I’m broke, I’m sick, I’m miserable, that’s a lie and you will self-sabotage because of a conflict in beliefs.

The key is to state the declarations in the first person permissive, which is: I allow myself to be, do, have and give. Unless you already have successful experience with the use of affirmations and declarations and have already achieved some important successes in your life with “I Am” statements, stick with the first person permissive. Otherwise, your subconscious mind will not respond because of psychological reversal.

To clarify, the exercise is this: For each key area in life (Financial, Relationships, Physical, Emotional) create a very powerful and impacting paragraph that fires you up! You want to be descriptive enough, yet concise, so that when you read it, it fires your positive emotions, faith and expectancy.  You’ll develop a mindset of positive expectancy and confidence through a process of reviewing these declarations daily at specific times during the day, so that you stay perfectly focused and intent on them.

For example, maybe one of your BE goals, is to be a millionaire.  And maybe some of your HAVE goals are to earn $500,000 a year, live in a 5,000 square foot home on a couple of acres near a lake and have a BMW 750Li. Maybe traveling around the world with your family is one of your DO goals.  So, take and construct from these areas a Financial Intention Declaration of who you’re being, what you’re doing, what you’re having and what you’re giving, and make it into a paragraph.

Here’s an example of a Positive Intention Declaration (PID) for each area.

Financial PID: I allow myself to be (I am) a multimillionaire, earning $500,000.00 a year, living in a 5,000 square foot Mediterranean home on a lake, driving a BMW 750Li, traveling to Tahiti with my family, and living my passion in life while creating a better world by helping to raise the collective consciousness through my Global Spirituality Foundation…

Relationship PID: I allow myself to have (I have) a loving, romantic relationship with my life partner and soul mate, sharing all the joys and adventures of life. My relationships with my children are full of happiness. I allow myself to have harmonious win-win business relationships with principle-based people who share my vision. I’m attracting into my life like-minded, spiritually enlightened friends, etc.

Physical PID: I allow myself to have my ideal body. I’m lean, trim and fit. People are always telling me I look great in my bathing suit. I allow myself to have a laser-sharp mind that continually serves me.  I allow myself to have perfect, vibrant health, full of energy and vitality, feeling powerful and full of life constantly, I allow myself to be a great __________ (fill in the blank… tennis player, swimmer, athlete, dancer) etc.

Emotional PID: I allow myself to be a “state master,” continually directing my emotional states, focusing on what I desire consistently and feeling that it’s already mine. I give empowering meaning to everything that happens in my life and I’m continually releasing all negative feelings, emotions and memories as they come up. I allow myself to have a belief system that serves me and empowers me and I allow myself to live in happy, cheerful powerful states, manifesting the life of my dreams on purpose.

Now that you have these descriptive examples, find your top Intentions in your BE, DO, HAVE, GIVE desires and create a compelling declaration that, by your commitment, converts desire to intention. Do it Now!

In order to change your life, conditions and circumstances, you have to change your state of consciousness or mindset! The best way to do that is to get clear on what really moves you and drives you and inspires you to go to new heights of awareness and use your imagination to feel as if you already are, have and do this, and then use it as a lever to automatically produce these results.

Whether you like it or not you are already doing this to produce the results you’re getting in your life right now… automatically!  If you don’t like these results, could it possibly be that you didn’t specifically decide what results you truly wanted? And, if you didn’t clearly ask life for what you wanted and additionally sent life mixed signals… how could you get what you desired?

Your assignment is to read these declarations first thing in the morning when you wake up and last thing before you go to sleep at night and imagine yourself as already being that person, having and doing what you desire.

Remember that just reading all of this will not create the changes you want in your future. You must put these principles to work in your life! Apply these strategies and do what you’ve never done before. Step out of your comfort zone and as Nike says “just do it!”

In my next article we’re going to explore what could be blocking you from having the things you really want so you can eliminate them (and by the way… they’re not your fault!) so until then…

How to Harness the Power of Intention

On August 1, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

The power that concentrates and animates your power to create whatever you want in your life is Commitment. Commitments are irreversible decisions that convert wishes and desires into total intent backed by action.

The life you are living today is the result of the decisions you made in the past. The life you’ll have in the future will be the result of the decisions you make today.

In Return of The Jedi Luke Skywalker goes back to see Yoda to finish his training to become a Jedi knight. When he enters the atmosphere of the planet Yoda is on, he loses control of his ship and crash-lands his Starfighter in a swamp. Yoda tells him to concentrate the full force of his attention and will it (intend it) to come out of the swamp. Luke closes his eyes and concentrates and the Starfighter starts rising up out of the water.  Then he loses control and the ship falls back into the swamp.

Yoda tells him to concentrate harder and make the ship rise out of the swamp. Luke tries again and the same thing happens. Again, Yoda tells him to concentrate harder and Luke tells him, “Yoda, I’m trying as hard as I can.” Yoda turns to him, shakes his head in disgust and says,

“NO! TRY NOT, DO OR DO NOT, THERE IS NO TRY”

Think about it a moment—this is a very deep message Yoda is giving Luke. And, it’s also a huge message for you and me! What does this mean… there is only do or do not? Where does do or not do come from?

As you’re reading this, you probably have access to a pen or pencil or may be using a highlighter to highlight key concepts. I want you to lay the pen or highlighter down in front of you. Now, “try” to pick up your pen. You might be laughing now saying, what do you mean try?  I’ll pick it up if I want to or not pick it up if I don’t want to.

Do or not do is a decision you make. Obviously, it’s a simple decision with something easy like picking up your pen. Now what happens if I tell you to pick up your pen and write a twenty-page report on quantum physics?

Do or not do becomes a function of your belief in your ability to write the report. It’s also a reflection of how much knowledge you have about the topic, which is obviously a reference that causes you to have or not have belief in your ability to write it.

There’s also your desire to write the report. If you wanted to do it badly enough, if there was a big enough reason or reward for you to do it, you would get a book on quantum physics, read it and write the report. The point is that in our culture today, we use the word “try” as an escape route from the absolute total commitment implied in making a true decision.

It’s a way to escape the reality of DO or NOT DO.

Luke didn’t believe in his ability to lift the Starship out of the swamp with the power of his mind. So he tried, which means, “I’ll do it if I can without total commitment” (which means no going back), which of course doesn’t work with things that require total commitment.

What does the word Decision mean?  It comes from the Latin root “De Cesare” which means to cut away from completely. When you make a decision, you literally cut away from any and all other options or alternatives. Today we would actually call it a commitment, because people change their decisions almost like they change their underwear.

When was the last time you made one of those De Cesare types of decisions or commitments?

Typically, when we say, “I made a decision,” we mean, “I’ll do it if it’s easy. I’ll do it if it’s comfortable.  I’ll do it if I don’t get flack from other people.  I’ll do it if success comes easily and quickly.  I’ll do it if I have the time.”  Rarely does it mean—I’ll do it no matter what!

To truly succeed in any area of life, our decisions have to mean— I’ll do it no matter what!

When a true decision is made, action is its natural consequence. In the commitment, the action is birthed. When you create the habit of making true decisions, you begin to have faith in your decisions because each is a total commitment. Then you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the result is around the corner.

When you make a DeCesare decision, you know that all you have to do is put in the proper amount of action and you’ll get the results. The key is the commitment. You can change your entire life in one moment with the power of a true decision. As a matter of fact, you’ll never put forth the action required without first making a real decision.

There’s a verse in the Bible that says;  “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things yet unseen.” Faith is total belief and conviction that something that is not seen is real. Commitment is what unlocks the door to mountain-moving faith.

When you really learn how to make De Cesare decisions, they become a thing of power and in that decision the goal is already achieved because it is that level of commitment that turns desires into full-blown intentions.

All of a sudden, you begin to attract the people and circumstances needed to achieve the result you want. You begin to see the opportunity in problems and realize that they were things you needed in order to achieve your goal.

Decision is the partner of focus. Decision is intention and focus is attention. As Deepak Chopra states in The 7 Spiritual Laws of Success, the two qualities inherent in consciousness are attention and intention.

Attention energizes and intention transforms.

The quality of intention on the object of attention will orchestrate an infinity of space-time events to bring about the outcome intended. When you decide something, since you have cut away from all other alternatives, you totally and unequivocally intend to make this a reality in your life. Since your intention is to create what you decided, you maintain your attention or focus on it.

The natural question you continually ask yourself is, “What do I need to do now in order to move closer to my intended outcome?” The natural by-product is action in the present moment and an “opportunity consciousness” that is continually looking for ways to make it happen. This is also known as “present moment awareness.”

When you focus on your dream and decide that it will be your reality, you will live and act on it as if it is already your reality and you will achieve whatever you want in life.

In my next article I’m going to tie this together with the exercise you did in Designing Your Life to teach you a powerful strategy to make your dreams true INTENTIONS in order to give you the power to actually achieve them, so until then…

How to Truly Design Your Life on Purpose!

On July 3, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

Have you ever found yourself unmotivated and procrastinating in your work or business? I know I have and for a long time that was the story of my life. I couldn’t get myself to do the things I needed to do to succeed in my business. I like most people was getting by, doing OK but there was no zest and no excitement!
The reason most of us have these feelings is that we have impotent dreams and goals. We are really not invested in what we truly desire so therefore we lack the drive to achieve. You see motivation is really a motive that is so compelling that it literally drives you to take action… It is motive-action!

So the big question is where do we find such a big motive? And the answer like most things in life is it’s already inside of you. You don’t actually find it you define it. So let’s do a powerful exercise that I’ve taught people for many years to define and get total clarity on what YOU truly desire.

In order to do this, you must have some fun, let go of preconceived notions of what you’ve been taught is not possible, and become a kid again.

Do you remember the TV show “I Dream of Jeannie”? (Many of you may be too young and will have to see the re-runs!) The show is about an army aerospace captain who finds a bottle with a Genie in it who wants to give him all his wishes—but he wants to do everything himself, the human way, and he only lets Jeannie the Genie do her magic stuff when they get into trouble and he can’t figure a way out with his intellect.

Sounds like a lot of us, right?  We have the ability to do magic with our lives, but we’re so afraid and full of unbelief that we don’t to use our power, and then when we get into trouble we go and beg God to fix it.

However, right now I’d like you to imagine that you have your own Genie, which will give you whatever you desire, and you can be, do, have and give anything you want in life.

Anything at all… what would it be?  So get out four sheets of paper right now and…

On the first one write BE

On the next one write DO

On the next one write HAVE

On the last one write GIVE

Before you do this exercise, I want you to understand something.

Over the years, many people have told me that their main problem is getting motivated.  I can relate, because as I already mentioned, that was my problem too, but I finally understood why.  My goals were too small. I was afraid of failing or getting hurt again. In other words, I had impotent goals and was lacking a big dream.

Your motivation must be so strong that it compels you to take action—literally drives you and moves you to take massive action to attain it.

Answer this: Can you get really fired up about just paying your bills or being able to eat at McDonalds once a week?  Can you get totally pumped and excited about just getting by, feeling “so-so” or being average?

Before anyone feels insulted, remember that God didn’t create average; he doesn’t make junk. It’s people who choose average. If you want to overcome average and be excited and motivated on a continual basis, you have to think big—you have to think of the possibilities.

To have tremendous motivation, you have to have tremendous goals that literally drive and transform you. It’s time to let go of your fears and preconceived notions.

The rules of this exercise are simple: don’t prejudge if it’s possible or probable, and simply let your imagination go wild like it did when you were a kid.

As you prepare to do this exercise, imagine you have your own genie or you can imagine God appears before you and tells you that He’s going to grant you all the desires of your heart in the key areas of your life (HAVE, DO, BE, GIVE) that you can write down in five minutes.  Use whatever works best for you just don’t hesitate or over-think or rationalize it.

I want you to understand how this exercise is supposed to go.  Have you ever brainstormed anything?  This is brainstorming.  You don’t start thinking, is 6,000 square feet too big? Should it be only 4,863 square feet? Is a Bentley too gaudy?  Should I just settle for a Cadillac?  What will people think of me if I have my own airplane?  Is it too decadent?  What about my own chef?  What about desiring a soul mate that is drop dead gorgeous, and loving, and giving, and…  am I asking too much?

Don’t second-guess yourself.  If you’ve ever thought about it in your wildest dreams, write it down. If you wanted it when you were a kid, write it down. Before you learned to feel guilty about having money and riches, did you think about having it?  Before you became a pious, self-sacrificing human being, did you think about having it? When you were a selfish child, did you want it?

When we were kids, we didn’t care. We were innocent and our inner knowing drove us to desire the best in life. Now that we’ve been programmed and worn down by guilt, we’ve allowed all this unworthiness to affect and control us and make us feel we don’t deserve the good things in life.  That’s why you have to go into this playing with the heart and mind of a child.

Let’s start with HAVE.

This is all about the “stuff.” It could be any material thing from houses and cars to jewelry, boats, expensive toys, to businesses, income, relationships or anything that you can physically obtain—whatever falls into the category of HAVE. Just make sure that you include a lot of material things for your fun and enjoyment.

As we get started, take a deep breath, close your eyes and really imagine God/the Universe has given you the ability to make all your dreams come true. You have been transformed into the person you know is inside you, the person you’ve always desired to be. Now, open your eyes and write down everything you’d like that person to HAVE!

Remember, don’t prejudge at all. You can always do that later. Let your imagination go wild, and even if you’re not sure that you desire it, if it pops into your mind, write it down.  You can always take it off the list later.  Don’t miss out on something that you may truly desire by second-guessing yourself.

Stop and take 5 minutes to do this now!

Now, take the paper with DO and write down everything you think you might want to DO.

Again don’t prejudge—don’t disqualify yourself.  Remember, God is giving you everything you can write down in the next five minutes because he loves you so much and you’re such a great person.  I’m serious; don’t let the guilt get you.  Today, be that little kid; you can always go back to being an adult later.  It’s time to let yourself go.

Let your imagination go wild!!!  Again, pull out all the stops.  You can do anything you want.  Maybe you want to…

Climb Mount Everest… sail around the world in a sailboat… Spend a couple months in Tahiti… Create a foundation for kids… Take six months and work on yourself spiritually… Build a huge business… Learn how to fly, sky dive, play the guitar or write a book… Produce your own movie or TV show, etc., etc.

What do you want to do?  Remember, this includes anything and everything, from playing sports or musical instruments to accomplishments in business.

Stop and take 5 minutes to do this now!

Let’s go to BE.  This is a really powerful area that massively impacts your life.  We’ve worked on Identity, but doing this exercise in this format actually helps to expand it, so go for it right now!

Write everything you even remotely think you might want to BE in your entire lifetime.

And, by the way, some of these things are interchangeable and wind up in multiple categories. For example: In the BE category, you might say, I want to be a millionaire. In the HAVE part you might say it differently, as I want to have $1 million or $5 million. And in the DO area you might say, I want to build a multi-million dollar business. These are all valid, based upon the way you process information.

So no prejudging—be a kid—imagine your personal Genie giving you your wildest dreams. By the way, that doesn’t just mean millionaire, billionaire or gazillionaire… It’s, I want to be a loving father or mother, or a great friend, or a great speaker, or the man/woman who changes the world, a best selling author, a public speaker, a famous musician, financially free, a philanthropist, an artist…  So, go for it now.

Stop and take 5 minutes to do this now!

Last but not least, take the paper with GIVE and write down everything you want to give or contribute.

For many people, this can be the most compelling goal because here is where you make a contribution to mankind and leave your mark on this world.

Write down everything you’d like to share or give—any type of contribution at all, whether it’s money or time or building an organization that impacts mankind, but don’t stop there. Consider what you’d like to give your spouse, children, parents, your friends or anyone else you care about.

Stop and take 5 minutes to do this now!

Wasn’t that fun? You should be really excited! So now, go through the list of desires you’ve written and determine when you truly want to achieve or realize each one. As you go through them, if you find that you wrote something you don’t really desire, just scratch it off.  Alternatively, if your juices got flowing by doing these exercises and you realize you’ve sold yourself short, you can increase the size of any of these desires.

As you go through the list, put the number 1, 2, 5 or 10 beside each item, indicating the time frame in years in which you’re committed to having it.

Put the number 1 beside the ones you’re committed to achieving in one year or less. Put a 2 beside those you’re committed to achieving in two years. Put a 5 beside those you’re committed to achieving in five years. Put a 10 beside those you’re committed to achieving in ten years or more.

So to be clear, you’re going to go through the four sheets of dreams you’ve written, HAVE, DO, BE and GIVE and you’re going to categorize each item based upon the time frame that you’re committed to achieving each one.

Please understand, this is not an exam… This is a gut check.  This is not a head thing; it’s not something you’re reasoning out and analyzing.  It’s a gut feeling as to when you really want to have, be, do or give those things you wrote down.  There are no right or wrong answers, except what you feel to be right.  Your inner knowing will tell you by how you’re feeling. Take a few minutes to do this now and in my next article I’m going to teach you a powerful strategy to make these dreams real for you in order to give you the power to actually achieve them, so until then…

How to Find Your Passionate Purpose

On June 29, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

In my last article I told you some of my story and how I stumbled on finding my true purpose in life. While it might be romantic to tell you that I always knew what I wanted in life and I fought my way into it… that would be a lie.

The truth of the matter is that for most of my life I had no earthly idea what I wanted and wandered around in a confused state trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together. However, the key was I was searching and refused to quit. I felt deep down inside that there was a reason I was here and was determined to find out what that was.

You may feel the same way I did but the bottom line is that you were put here for a reason as well. It doesn’t matter that you are or have been confused in the past. You and I are kindred spirits and are much more alike than we are different so you have a reason for being here too that will make a huge contribution to the rest of us.

Now, let’s get to the important part. What is your purpose?  What are you passionate about?

The best way to go at this is to imagine God appearing to you and saying, “You have been so good and I love you so much that I’m going to do something very special for you. You will never, ever have to worry about money again.

I’m going to give you $50 million to start, and if you ever need more, all you have to do is snap your fingers and you’ll get as much as you want.”

Now, imagine that you already own several homes—on a beach in the islands, in the mountains, a ranch with horses, a villa in Italy, a chalet in France, a bungalow in Fiji, a penthouse in Miami, or wherever else you want them to be.

You also already have numerous cars—a Mercedes, a BMW, a Cadillac, a Land Rover, a Ferrari, a Bentley, a limo or whatever other car your heart desires.

You’ve taken many exotic vacations to wherever you desire, to the best beaches and the most beautiful mountains, to Europe, Africa, the Orient, the Caribbean and the Pacific Islands—anywhere you’ve ever desired to travel.

Now that you have it all and you’ve done it all, and you don’t really NEED anything else, what do you do with your life? What do you invest your time and your life in? Write a short paragraph describing your purpose, utilizing your gifts and talents to serve the greater good of all.

Use the guidelines below and remember that it doesn’t have to be perfect.  You can refine it later and that’s one of the key things to understand about this philosophy. It’s a work in progress that you will keep refining and improving over the years, just as I’ve done mine. You will grow and change. You can’t be fulfilled and happy if you don’t.

Here are a few guidelines to help you be as effective as possible in writing your purpose statement:

1. Your purpose statement should be written in statements of being and doing (My purpose is to be ______ and do __________);

2. It should include yourself and others (Being for yourself and doing for others);

3. It should be stated in the positive (my purpose is “to be this and to do that” rather than, “to not do this” or “to not be that”);

4. Make it as simple and as brief as possible for maximum impact;

5. It should be something you can experience every day;

6. Do not use universals such as always, never, etc.;

7. Use words that carry a strong emotional charge for you.

When I first did a purpose statement, this is what I wrote:

My purpose in life is to be the best I can be and help as many others as I can to be their best.

It was pretty basic but I was finding my way. That first purpose statement served me well and was the basis for future growth and evolvement.

Today my purpose statement is: I live in conscious oneness with God and I am inspiring and empowering people to know their inner power, be free and live their Ideal Life enjoying love, abundance, wholeness and perfect self-expression!

As you can see, I’ve evolved. You will too. Life is a journey and if you’re not growing and expanding, you can never be truly happy.

Start writing your purpose statement now!

Read this purpose statement often to make sure it moves you, that it fires something within your soul. Your purpose statement should drive you to keep growing and expanding, while also helping you recognize your connection to others and the contribution you are making.

Remember, you can refine your purpose statement any time you become aware of new distinctions or your vision becomes clearer. If you’re reading it every day, you will receive insights that will help you refine it until it becomes your driving force in life.

Now that you’re starting to get clarity on your purpose in life, in my next article we will start working on how to design the life of your dreams on purpose. Many people think that this is impossible but I’m here to tell you from my own personal experience and those of 100’s of thousands of people I’ve worked with that you can be the architect of your own life and future but you have to take control and do it on purpose! So until then…

Please leave me your comments and questions below and share this post with everyone you care about. Also become a partner in my empowerment community at http://facebook.com/carlosmarinlive and promote it to everyone you love and care about. The world needs YOU and your contribution so we can help millions of people raise their consciousness and get free in 2012! God bless and live your passion!

How Do I Know What My Purpose is?

On June 21, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

In my last article I shared with you some of my personal background to help you start understanding how we align with or miss our purpose in life and what a fine line the difference can be. As I mentioned, since I couldn’t decide what I wanted to be and lacked a dream that required an advanced education, I didn’t go to college.

Due to the high expectations that my family had for me due to my learning abilities I felt pressured to go into a professional career. Since I didn’t go to college that pressure eventually led me to into the insurance field, a very respectable professional career.  I started in developing a clientele in the property and casualty arena, then added life and health insurance. I was studying financial planning when I was introduced to network marketing.

I wasn’t great in the insurance field because I didn’t like to talk about negative things like dying, being hospitalized or car accidents. I did like working with people, however, so I focused on helping them solve their problems with insurance and I did okay by most people’s standards, but I wasn’t fulfilled.

On the other hand, what I liked about network marketing was that I could continually talk to people about achieving their dreams and goals. I saw myself as a business consultant who helped people improve their lives financially.

The only problem I had was a great fear of public speaking (which is pretty much a game breaker in this industry). This stemmed from the fact that I had been laughed at in the second grade while trying to give a book report in front of the class. That event traumatized me and had paralyzed me from speaking in public ever since.

I told one of my mentors, who recruited me into the business that I didn’t like to speak in public. He said I wouldn’t have to do so, unless I wanted to and he would do the meetings for me.  What he didn’t tell me was that after my first 3 or 4 meetings I’d have to take my people to meetings he was doing, wherever they might be!

So after going crazy chasing him all over 3 counties in South Florida to have him show the business to my prospects, the day came when I got tired of dragging my prospects all over town, following him to wherever he was doing business presentations. I told him I’d try doing meetings myself.

He said it was no big deal.  All I had to do was make up some 3×5 cards with information I wanted to cover, tell people I was new at this and let them see how excited I was by the opportunity.  He said it would all work out.

He also gave me a book called The Magic of Thinking Big and pointed out the chapter on how to overcome fear. The cure for fear it turns out (and you might want to add this to your philosophy of life) was, “Action cures fear.” In other words do the thing you fear and the fear will disappear!

I followed his advice, made the 3×5 cards and even gave myself a pep talk in front of the bathroom mirror as he had suggested. I got myself all pumped up, but as I walked out of the bathroom and tried to put the 3×5 cards in my pocket, they fell on the floor. To make matters worse, I had forgotten to number them. As I panicked, I heard the host of the meeting introduce me. I freaked out.

Seconds later, I stood in front of about ten people, opened my mouth to speak… and nothing came out!  I finally started talking but my voice cracked. I sounded like a twelve-year-old girl in distress.

That night, I did a presentation that was supposed to take one hour… in about seven minutes. Then, I introduced my mentor as “the person who has taught me everything I know about this business” and he finished explaining everything I had forgotten in about forty-five minutes.

When he asked for questions, one guy actually said, “What do we have to do to get started?  Because if that guy can do it, anybody can!”

That night, I became determined to succeed at public speaking. It took a while—at the beginning the only one who laughed at my jokes was me—but something kept driving me forward. I secretly had a deep desire to perform, but I also had a big fear of rejection and failure.

Remember, early in my life I was a performer. I was the star running back on the football team.  I loved to sing and dreamed of being the lead singer in a band. The seed of the dream to be a public speaker was inside me.

I needed to build some confidence, develop my own speaking style and acquire the right skills. People say “practice makes perfect” but it’s really, “perfect practice makes perfect” and since I had some good mentors guiding me and some good speakers to model, I improved rapidly.

I did presentations day after day and even gave speeches in my car.  After a while, I got really good at it.

Today, if you ask me what I love to do so much that I lose track of time and go into timeless awareness, it’s teaching people the universal principles of success—and doing it in public venues.

In fact, the larger the audience, the better I like it and the more fun I have. In the past twenty-eight years, I’ve spoken to several million people. I’ve put on events where we had over 67,000 people in a soccer stadium for two-day business and personal development seminars.

This is my purpose in life—to teach people how to achieve success, happiness and wealth. I’ve grown a lot, both personally and financially by pursuing my purpose. I’m on a constant journey, learning, evolving and coming into conscious oneness with my higher self. I know my purpose and am committed to use my talents to contribute to humanity.

The more I share and give, the more fulfillment and success I create in my own life. In a way, I feel like the lead singer in a band.  I’m able to make people feel good and bless their lives by sharing my talents. It took a long time for me to figure this out but I didn’t really have anyone guiding me down this path.

I’m here to help you figure out what your TRUE purpose in life really is. Whatever it is has to resonate with you. It has to turn you on, light your fire, fire you up and drive you with a passion that cannot be quenched other than by you living that purpose!

In my next article I’m going to walk you through an exercise that will really help you get in tune with your passions and find your purpose in life. There is nothing more rewarding than knowing and living your purpose… anything else is trying to climb the ladder of success while its leaning against the wrong wall. And that only leads to frustration, confusion and burnout so stay tuned and until then…

Why Am I Here?

On June 14, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

The second step of the Ultimate Success Formula is all about defining clearly what you desire in life. To create your ideal life, you must know exactly what you want.  In other words, what is your Point B? To begin, let’s start with how you define success.

Today I personally define success as the continued expansion of happiness by knowing who I really am and expressing ever-greater levels of life, love and beauty. It comes about as the result of living life by universal principles with an accurate philosophy of life that brings happiness and fulfillment.

How do we create this philosophy of life? In my experience, the best place to start is with our purpose. I believe we were all put on this earth for a reason and that reason serves the rest of humanity because in reality we are all One.

The way to find your purpose is to discover your true essence. As you learned in the last chapter, you are an individualization of God so your essence is Spirit.  When you know this, you know that you are unlimited pure potential and have unlimited power to manifest what you truly desire.

Additionally, we have gifts, talents and abilities that are uniquely ours and there’s at least one thing you can do better than anyone else. When you’re doing this thing, you enjoy it so much that you lose track of time.  You go into what’s called “timeless awareness.”

Since the expression of your talent serves a purpose that meets the needs of the rest of humanity, you will be living your “Point B,” your successful, happy life, enjoying perfect self-expression.

Have you discovered your purpose in life yet? One way to do this is to examine what you liked to do earlier in life before too much training and conditioning took hold. What did you want to be when you were growing up?  Was it something you really loved to do, like dance, sing, play football or baseball, perform in some way or be a fireman, policeman, or doctor?  Think about it a second.

Many people will tell you they wanted to be a lot of things but weren’t good enough at any of them. Most of us were not that disciplined when we were young, so we may not have discovered our true talents and gifts… but we all had tendencies.

To be truly great at anything no matter how much native ability you might have, you still have to do it over and over and over to perfect your skills. The greatest basketball player in history, Michael Jordan, wasn’t even a starter on his High School basketball team until his junior year!

We’re usually interested in certain things during our youth that are in the same general area of interest as our core purpose. We will need to hone our skills and develop the drive, discipline and vision to make the most of our gifts, but they usually are in view when we are young and developing.

For example, when I was a kid I wanted to be a football player and I also wanted to be lead singer in a band.  I spent hours per day playing football pretending to be the star running back scoring numerous touchdowns every game. Then I’d go home at night and sign in my room pretending to be Paul McCartney signing all the top Beatles songs.

My parents strongly encouraged me to become something “worthwhile” and “respectable” (preferably an attorney) since I had a facility for learning but I really didn’t want to do that.  Since I lacked a dream that required an advanced education, I didn’t go to college.

I guess all along I had this desire to perform and do something that people enjoyed watching and made them feel good! I had no idea back then that there were many ways to perform and produce these same feelings in others and myself in ways that would bless all of us which I’ll share with you in my next article.

So now its your turn… what did you like to do when you were younger. What activities made you feel good about yourself and enjoy life? What did you like to do and what were you relatively good at? You don’t have to have been a superstar at it just things list some things you loved doing and had some native ability at. Take a few minutes to brainstorm this with yourself, remember what you felt and really tap into those feelings.

In the next article in our series we will use these affinities to determine your purpose and get you on the road to achieving your dreams! Until then…

Why Can’t We Get What We Want All the Time?

On May 9, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

Most people live life in various stages of frustration because they don’t feel they can be, do or have what they really want. The challenge comes from not having the right answers to questions because oftentimes we don’t even know the right questions to ask. We walk around in a state of doubt and confusion not realizing the huge potential we truly have.

The biggest problem we have, the big thing that keeps us from being all we can be and having everything we want, is the conditioning that we’re not good enough or are unworthy and don’t deserve the good things in life. This mindset is the greatest deterrent to living the good life we were meant to live by Divine Right.

As you learned in a previous post you came into this world as unlimited potential, like the most incredible supercomputer with a fantastic operating system, but no software. Then, people, conditions and circumstances began to program you.

Consequently, you and I have lived a life of limitation based on the programs that were installed in our minds. However, you still have unlimited potential inherent within you regardless of those programs.

The key to maximizing your potential lies in using your mental power purposely to achieve your desires.

Remember, you and I are individualizations (extensions or projections) of Infinite Intelligence. We are here to express increasingly greater levels of life, love and beauty. It is our right and obligation as children of the Infinite to demonstrate our power and produce success, wealth, health, love and harmonious conditions.

We can only do that through our continual expansion, by directing our own minds on purpose and choosing what we desire. To do this, we must realize that we still are and have unlimited potential within us, even if we are not demonstrating it at this very moment.

This means that we are worthy and deserving of every good thing, and that includes success, wealth, riches, perfect health, perfect body, fantastic relationships, beauty, love, happiness and all the joy that we could ever stand. We are supposed to have and enjoy these things. They are our birthright!

The key is to understand who we really are, the unlimited potential and power within us and the good things we absolutely deserve to have. Then and only then can we access that power to truly make of our lives the masterpiece that we came here to create.

Since the beginning of time, man has been asking: “Who am I?” and, “Why am I here?” When we answer these questions and know the truth behind them, life becomes the joyous adventure it was meant to be.

The most effective way to change your programming is to input new programs into your computer, which is your mind. As you learned previously, the programs stored in your subconscious were installed through repetition.  They run and function automatically. By building our power of faith (by knowing who we really are and the power we really have) and utilizing repetition to install new positive programs, we can begin to delete some of the old limiting programs and replace them with empowering new ones.

One very powerful way to do this is through the use of affirmations or declarations. Psychologists say that the average person has over 60,000 thoughts per day and that over 90% of them are the same thoughts day in and day out.

What most people don’t understand is that a repeated thought becomes a declaration of truth to the subconscious mind. If it’s negative thought, it is a negative affirmation that must produce its material equivalent. That’s why some people claim affirmations don’t work for them—they’re actually repeating negative words and thoughts over and over. These are actually negative affirmations and they are unconsciously repeating them far more consistently than any positive ones they are trying to use.

Again, for most people, this is an unconscious process, and they simply are not aware of what they’re thinking, when they’re thinking it, or how often they’re thinking it.

When you use the Ultimate Success Formula, each powerful step in the formula works in concert with the other steps to create exponential positive results. Once you’ve committed to take full responsibility for your life the next step is… Know who you are at a very deep level, and I mean particularly from the spiritual and mental realm.

In the next article in our series we will learn some “Power Affirmations” that will help you overcome some of these limitations and get you on the road to achieving your dreams! Until then…
