The Power of Imagination to Change Your Life

On April 11, 2013, in Blog, by Carlos

In our last article I spoke about changing limiting beliefs. You identified what the major ones were that were holding you back from having the life you desire and deserve. One of the key elements you need in order to change those beliefs is to decide what you want to change them to.

Active-Imagination-The biggest problem people have in life is that they are unhappy or dissatisfied where they are and want to be someplace else but they haven’t decided where that place is! One Universal Law you must be aware of is that the Universe abhors (hates) a vacuum and will immediately rush in to fill the empty space. An important point to understand is that if the space you just cleared was a negative or limiting belief or assumption then an equally negative one will replace it unless YOU decide what POSITIVE belief or assumption you will replace it with.

So you must get some positive references to uphold your new idea or concept that you desire to turn into an empowering belief…

The big question is… Where do you get these references?  One way is from your own memory banks, from your own past experiences, from other people’s experiences—people you’ve seen succeed, get rich, have great bodies, enjoy perfect health, have great relationships, experience love and joy.

This is why reading inspiring stories, watching videos and listening to audios that describe other people’s success stories, strategies and mindset is so powerful.  You get to borrow them and use them as a model to create your own on purpose.

You can even pull them out of the future by imagining or visualizing yourself having those experiences or references. That’s the purpose of your imagination; to create whatever end result you desire to achieve, just like magic. It’s the most powerful tool you have, it doesn’t cost you anything to use, it’s the thing that can set you free from all limitation and lack and I’m going to teach you how to use it masterfully in my programs!

Our imagination is the most powerful tool we have to create the lives we desire. With it we can imagine what we would like to experience in our material world and feel that we actually have it. When we get into that feeling of actually having it we are in the spirit of the thing! The feeling is the spirit of whatever it is that we want to possess or experience and that is what brings it into reality!

There is a very powerful and yet misunderstood scripture that states “Not by power or by might but by my spirit, says the Lord”… its all about the feeling of already being, doing and having which is the will of God because God’s desire for us is that we continually expand and express ever greater levels of life, love and beauty!

Let me ask you a question.  How did Columbus discover America?  Where did he get his references or sense of certainty that the world was round and not flat?  He had to pull his references out of the future, something no one had seen before in the physical realm.  He saw it in his mind, in his mental theater.

He believed it so strongly that he was willing to risk his life and reputation. He believed it so much that he actually influenced others (including the Queen of Spain) to back his mission!

Now it’s your turn: So now look at your limiting beliefs and determine the new beliefs that will take you where you truly want to be in life. Start using your imagination to see where that will put you in life and actually feel what that would be like. Imagine how your life would be like if you were already the person you want to be, doing and having the things you desire in your life.

What beliefs did you create in your mind that got you where you wanted to be in your imagination? Take these new empowering beliefs and write down all the benefits you and your loved ones will gain by living with these new beliefs now and in the future. Take a few minutes and actually do this exercise right now!

*********************************************************

Understand that the only things holding you back from achieving your greatness and all the riches you desire in life are your limiting beliefs and your resistance. And, your resistance comes from memories, traumatic experiences and suppressed feelings which consciously or unconsciously you have labeled and given negative meaning to. This boils down to a conflict of beliefs, usually regarding your worthiness or deservingness.  The Law of Life truly is the Law of Belief. As you believe it shall be done unto you!

I’m sure that Bill Gates’ parents told him that for a bright boy like him, getting a great education would take him far in life. But, when an opportunity came up to produce the software for the first personal computer, that dream caused him to change his beliefs.

The rest is history.  One of the richest men in the world doesn’t have a college degree.  So what’s your excuse?

That is why a lot of times when people give me excuses saying, well I can’t be, do or have this because of this or that… I say BS.

You might think, that’s kind of rude Carlos, but BS doesn’t just stand for bull poop, it also stands for Belief System.  And a limiting belief system is way nastier and smellier than the biggest pile of bull poop you’ve ever seen in your life.

Please take the time to create the empowering beliefs that will transform your life today. In my next article I’ll teach you a very powerful strategy to change limiting beliefs and convert them to empowering ones immediately so you can attain your desires and dreams in life.

Let’s Talk About Money!

On March 19, 2013, in Blog, by Carlos

It’s been a while since my last blog post. As some of you may know I have been accelerating my knowledge of Internet marketing strategies, studying under Brendon Burchard for the past 9 months. I also did a Spanish Market launch of my Millionaire Mindset Online program (my first one) and did a Facebook Fanpage campaign to achieve over 100,000 “Likes” which kept me very busy throughout the past 6 months.

Unlock Your Mind 28However, I’m very excited to be back here and to keep providing greater value to all of my friends through this medium. I am ready to resume posting on my blog regularly every week once again so keep an eye out for a new article (sometimes even two) every week!

In order to get the most out of this week’s article I highly recommend that you go back and read the last two articles entitled “How to Direct the Power of All Powers” and “How to Know What Beliefs are Blocking Your Success.” It will only take you a few minutes to do so but will enhance your ability to get maximum impact from this week’s article. Enjoy!

Now… Lets talk about money. You have been learning about my Ultimate Success Formula and, although it can be used to obtain a lot more than money, you probably want more money too, right? So, what beliefs do you have about money? Unless you are tremendously wealthy and have more money than you can spend, you have some limiting beliefs about money, or your worthiness to have more of it than you now have.

We covered a few of the many potentially limiting beliefs a person could have in this area in the previous articles, but I want you to really think about it. What did you hear your parents say about money, what was the general feeling in your home while growing up pertaining to money, what did you hear religious leaders, teachers and coaches say about money, what clichés did you hear repeatedly, what did your parents tell you when you asked for things, what did you experience in your past regarding money, wealth or lack?

Do you honestly believe that there’s enough money for everyone? Do you believe that if you have more, somebody else has to have less? Do you believe that there’s a limited amount of money that everyone has to divide? Are you afraid that there won’t be enough left for you after everyone else takes their share? Do you believe that if you have a lot of money, your friends won’t like you or will try to take advantage of you or will only want to hang around with you because of your money?

Do you believe that money corrupts people? Do you think money is good or is it evil? Do you believe you have to take advantage of other people to be rich? Do you think rich people are evil? Do you believe that all rich people are going to hell? Would you feel guilty about having a lot of money? Do you think it’s wrong to be materialistic? Would you feel guilty about having a luxurious home, exotic automobiles, taking luxury vacations, buying designer clothes, buying expensive jewelry and watches? What limiting beliefs do you have buried in your subconscious regarding money, wealth and riches?

Take a few more minutes to brainstorm all of the limiting beliefs, thoughts and ideas you have about money. Don’t hold back. If there was ever a time to let all the negatives hang out, it is now. It will definitely serve you to find them so we can transform them to empower you!

In addition to beliefs that we can actually pinpoint in our lives, many times things happened during childhood before we could even speak or understand. This is what happened in my story about leaving Cuba. I was not intellectually aware of what I believed, yet it was very real in my experience and it affected me for many years. This is energy stored in our bodies, in our subconscious mind, and we may not even be aware of it other than through a feeling of discomfort in certain situations.

When intense things happened, they might have caused extremely strong feeling or emotion that we now label “trauma.” These intense emotions create intelligible sensations that move us in ways that seem unreasonable to the logical, conscious mind. Nevertheless, they are very real in our inner world and their effects can be certainly felt in our outer world.

It is important that when we feel negative feelings or emotions, we acknowledge and release them in order to center our energies and maintain our alignment. They are our signals that there is some fear, belief, trauma, emotional scar or negative program playing in our subconscious mind. If not addressed, these emotions can cause us to self-sabotage and not achieve our desires or goals.

Please take the time to discover many of the things that have been blocking you from having your success and dreams, and in my next article we’ll move on to how to deal with those blocks and remove them so you can attain your desires and dreams in life.

How to Direct the Power of All Powers

On August 23, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

Our buried emotions, fears, beliefs and programs are just energy infused with information. That’s what a thought is, a representation of an ideal or concept which is essentially energy infused with information.

A thought that you think many times becomes a belief and beliefs are causes.  Beliefs put the Law of Attraction into operation, create our vibration, and therefore they are what create our success or failure, our wealth or lack, our happiness or sorrow.  We need to really dig into this topic, so please pay close attention.

A belief is nothing more than a sense of certainty about what something means. It’s an idea that has so many references behind it that you feel certain it’s true.

The important thing is… It is not necessarily true. It could very easily be an absolute lie.  It could go totally against the truth, but since we have the belief that it is true programmed, our subconscious (our inner power that is working all the time to produce results) will make it true for us in our experience!

Think of a belief as a table. The top of the table is an idea or a thought.  The legs are the references, distinctions and concepts that, through repetition, have given you a sense of certainty regarding the idea or thought.

The table top without the legs would only be a flat piece of wood or glass or whatever material your table is made of. A belief without its legs (which are references and distinctions) is just an idea, which may or may not be true or even relevant in your life.

It is the legs holding up the flat piece of wood that make it a table. The idea or thought without the references would not be a belief, just an idea or thought. So it’s the references and the repetition of those references that create the sense of certainty that makes the idea a belief.

The Law of Life is the Law of Belief. Whatever you believe is true is the reality that you will create for yourself.  Having beliefs that serve us and empower us to attract what we truly desire is the key to having riches in every area of life.

Sometimes our beliefs have absolutely nothing to do with our current reality. I know people who fight and act like children when they get around their siblings at holiday time and they are now in their 40s and 50s! It’s amazing how many of us are limited by traditions, which are just collective beliefs, and we never question them.

What would you have to do to take a belief you currently have that is limiting you and change it?

There are many ways to change beliefs and in this training program I’m going to teach you powerful technologies to do just that. One way to change beliefs is to question the validity of the references that uphold that belief or associate enough pain to the belief that it causes you to question the references. If you remove the validity of the references, you change the belief or remove it altogether.

Let’s start learning these strategies by using a very simple example. One of my old, limiting beliefs, a belief that kept me from a high level of success for a long time until I changed it was: “I don’t deserve success.”

I had that belief because I was in a hurry to grow up and was trying to bite off more than I could chew.  My parents, grandparents and teachers were always telling me to “slow down, you’re still young, you still have a lot to learn and you have to pay the price for success.”

When I acted impulsively or missed the mark, they would say, “Remember, you’re still young and have a long way to go and a big price to pay before you are ready to achieve real success.”  Consequently, I became really sensitive to the fact that I was too inexperienced and not good enough to attempt big things. The message I heard in my subconscious mind was “I don’t deserve success because I haven’t learned everything I need to or paid the price yet”

Later when I started working in sales and would call on people, they’d say, my gosh you’re so young to be a financial planner or insurance expert. Even when it was a compliment, I was so self-conscious that it set off an unconscious trigger to my feelings of being undeserving and the belief I had developed that, “I’m not good enough yet so I don’t deserve success.”  As ridiculous as this may sound to you, this belief affected my level of confidence, self worth and my feeling of worthiness to attain high levels of success.

It wasn’t until I began questioning my beliefs that I realized that I could change this.  And then I went and replaced that belief with a really strong and empowering one… “I am as successful as I decide to be.”

I began to realize that my success was a function of directing my mind towards my goals and maintaining a positive mental attitude, while executing my plan of action in the faith that it is already done.

I changed my references by realizing that my limiting belief had been formed when I was young and wasn’t even valid in the new context where it was affecting me, namely business success. I also realized that if I kept this belief, it would have very negative consequences in my life.  It was keeping me broke!

I linked enough pain to the old belief and enough pleasure to the new one that once I came to this realization/revelation I turned it into an empowering belief. It’s really as simple as that in most cases, unless its something deep-seated from a very early age or something so painful that you’re suppressing it, but I’ll even show you how to dig those up.

The bottom line is that our beliefs can lead us to either create the life of our dreams or destroy our dreams and leave us with a life of misery and dullness.

In my next article we’re going to dig deeper into what is blocking you from having the things you really want and show you how to change your limiting beliefs into empowering ones, so until then…

How to Truly Design Your Life on Purpose!

On July 3, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

Have you ever found yourself unmotivated and procrastinating in your work or business? I know I have and for a long time that was the story of my life. I couldn’t get myself to do the things I needed to do to succeed in my business. I like most people was getting by, doing OK but there was no zest and no excitement!
The reason most of us have these feelings is that we have impotent dreams and goals. We are really not invested in what we truly desire so therefore we lack the drive to achieve. You see motivation is really a motive that is so compelling that it literally drives you to take action… It is motive-action!

So the big question is where do we find such a big motive? And the answer like most things in life is it’s already inside of you. You don’t actually find it you define it. So let’s do a powerful exercise that I’ve taught people for many years to define and get total clarity on what YOU truly desire.

In order to do this, you must have some fun, let go of preconceived notions of what you’ve been taught is not possible, and become a kid again.

Do you remember the TV show “I Dream of Jeannie”? (Many of you may be too young and will have to see the re-runs!) The show is about an army aerospace captain who finds a bottle with a Genie in it who wants to give him all his wishes—but he wants to do everything himself, the human way, and he only lets Jeannie the Genie do her magic stuff when they get into trouble and he can’t figure a way out with his intellect.

Sounds like a lot of us, right?  We have the ability to do magic with our lives, but we’re so afraid and full of unbelief that we don’t to use our power, and then when we get into trouble we go and beg God to fix it.

However, right now I’d like you to imagine that you have your own Genie, which will give you whatever you desire, and you can be, do, have and give anything you want in life.

Anything at all… what would it be?  So get out four sheets of paper right now and…

On the first one write BE

On the next one write DO

On the next one write HAVE

On the last one write GIVE

Before you do this exercise, I want you to understand something.

Over the years, many people have told me that their main problem is getting motivated.  I can relate, because as I already mentioned, that was my problem too, but I finally understood why.  My goals were too small. I was afraid of failing or getting hurt again. In other words, I had impotent goals and was lacking a big dream.

Your motivation must be so strong that it compels you to take action—literally drives you and moves you to take massive action to attain it.

Answer this: Can you get really fired up about just paying your bills or being able to eat at McDonalds once a week?  Can you get totally pumped and excited about just getting by, feeling “so-so” or being average?

Before anyone feels insulted, remember that God didn’t create average; he doesn’t make junk. It’s people who choose average. If you want to overcome average and be excited and motivated on a continual basis, you have to think big—you have to think of the possibilities.

To have tremendous motivation, you have to have tremendous goals that literally drive and transform you. It’s time to let go of your fears and preconceived notions.

The rules of this exercise are simple: don’t prejudge if it’s possible or probable, and simply let your imagination go wild like it did when you were a kid.

As you prepare to do this exercise, imagine you have your own genie or you can imagine God appears before you and tells you that He’s going to grant you all the desires of your heart in the key areas of your life (HAVE, DO, BE, GIVE) that you can write down in five minutes.  Use whatever works best for you just don’t hesitate or over-think or rationalize it.

I want you to understand how this exercise is supposed to go.  Have you ever brainstormed anything?  This is brainstorming.  You don’t start thinking, is 6,000 square feet too big? Should it be only 4,863 square feet? Is a Bentley too gaudy?  Should I just settle for a Cadillac?  What will people think of me if I have my own airplane?  Is it too decadent?  What about my own chef?  What about desiring a soul mate that is drop dead gorgeous, and loving, and giving, and…  am I asking too much?

Don’t second-guess yourself.  If you’ve ever thought about it in your wildest dreams, write it down. If you wanted it when you were a kid, write it down. Before you learned to feel guilty about having money and riches, did you think about having it?  Before you became a pious, self-sacrificing human being, did you think about having it? When you were a selfish child, did you want it?

When we were kids, we didn’t care. We were innocent and our inner knowing drove us to desire the best in life. Now that we’ve been programmed and worn down by guilt, we’ve allowed all this unworthiness to affect and control us and make us feel we don’t deserve the good things in life.  That’s why you have to go into this playing with the heart and mind of a child.

Let’s start with HAVE.

This is all about the “stuff.” It could be any material thing from houses and cars to jewelry, boats, expensive toys, to businesses, income, relationships or anything that you can physically obtain—whatever falls into the category of HAVE. Just make sure that you include a lot of material things for your fun and enjoyment.

As we get started, take a deep breath, close your eyes and really imagine God/the Universe has given you the ability to make all your dreams come true. You have been transformed into the person you know is inside you, the person you’ve always desired to be. Now, open your eyes and write down everything you’d like that person to HAVE!

Remember, don’t prejudge at all. You can always do that later. Let your imagination go wild, and even if you’re not sure that you desire it, if it pops into your mind, write it down.  You can always take it off the list later.  Don’t miss out on something that you may truly desire by second-guessing yourself.

Stop and take 5 minutes to do this now!

Now, take the paper with DO and write down everything you think you might want to DO.

Again don’t prejudge—don’t disqualify yourself.  Remember, God is giving you everything you can write down in the next five minutes because he loves you so much and you’re such a great person.  I’m serious; don’t let the guilt get you.  Today, be that little kid; you can always go back to being an adult later.  It’s time to let yourself go.

Let your imagination go wild!!!  Again, pull out all the stops.  You can do anything you want.  Maybe you want to…

Climb Mount Everest… sail around the world in a sailboat… Spend a couple months in Tahiti… Create a foundation for kids… Take six months and work on yourself spiritually… Build a huge business… Learn how to fly, sky dive, play the guitar or write a book… Produce your own movie or TV show, etc., etc.

What do you want to do?  Remember, this includes anything and everything, from playing sports or musical instruments to accomplishments in business.

Stop and take 5 minutes to do this now!

Let’s go to BE.  This is a really powerful area that massively impacts your life.  We’ve worked on Identity, but doing this exercise in this format actually helps to expand it, so go for it right now!

Write everything you even remotely think you might want to BE in your entire lifetime.

And, by the way, some of these things are interchangeable and wind up in multiple categories. For example: In the BE category, you might say, I want to be a millionaire. In the HAVE part you might say it differently, as I want to have $1 million or $5 million. And in the DO area you might say, I want to build a multi-million dollar business. These are all valid, based upon the way you process information.

So no prejudging—be a kid—imagine your personal Genie giving you your wildest dreams. By the way, that doesn’t just mean millionaire, billionaire or gazillionaire… It’s, I want to be a loving father or mother, or a great friend, or a great speaker, or the man/woman who changes the world, a best selling author, a public speaker, a famous musician, financially free, a philanthropist, an artist…  So, go for it now.

Stop and take 5 minutes to do this now!

Last but not least, take the paper with GIVE and write down everything you want to give or contribute.

For many people, this can be the most compelling goal because here is where you make a contribution to mankind and leave your mark on this world.

Write down everything you’d like to share or give—any type of contribution at all, whether it’s money or time or building an organization that impacts mankind, but don’t stop there. Consider what you’d like to give your spouse, children, parents, your friends or anyone else you care about.

Stop and take 5 minutes to do this now!

Wasn’t that fun? You should be really excited! So now, go through the list of desires you’ve written and determine when you truly want to achieve or realize each one. As you go through them, if you find that you wrote something you don’t really desire, just scratch it off.  Alternatively, if your juices got flowing by doing these exercises and you realize you’ve sold yourself short, you can increase the size of any of these desires.

As you go through the list, put the number 1, 2, 5 or 10 beside each item, indicating the time frame in years in which you’re committed to having it.

Put the number 1 beside the ones you’re committed to achieving in one year or less. Put a 2 beside those you’re committed to achieving in two years. Put a 5 beside those you’re committed to achieving in five years. Put a 10 beside those you’re committed to achieving in ten years or more.

So to be clear, you’re going to go through the four sheets of dreams you’ve written, HAVE, DO, BE and GIVE and you’re going to categorize each item based upon the time frame that you’re committed to achieving each one.

Please understand, this is not an exam… This is a gut check.  This is not a head thing; it’s not something you’re reasoning out and analyzing.  It’s a gut feeling as to when you really want to have, be, do or give those things you wrote down.  There are no right or wrong answers, except what you feel to be right.  Your inner knowing will tell you by how you’re feeling. Take a few minutes to do this now and in my next article I’m going to teach you a powerful strategy to make these dreams real for you in order to give you the power to actually achieve them, so until then…

Please leave me your comments and questions below and share this post with everyone you care about. How Do I Know What My Purpose is?

On June 21, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

In my last article I shared with you some of my personal background to help you start understanding how we align with or miss our purpose in life and what a fine line the difference can be. As I mentioned, since I couldn’t decide what I wanted to be and lacked a dream that required an advanced education, I didn’t go to college.

Due to the high expectations that my family had for me due to my learning abilities I felt pressured to go into a professional career. Since I didn’t go to college that pressure eventually led me to into the insurance field, a very respectable professional career.  I started in developing a clientele in the property and casualty arena, then added life and health insurance. I was studying financial planning when I was introduced to network marketing.

I wasn’t great in the insurance field because I didn’t like to talk about negative things like dying, being hospitalized or car accidents. I did like working with people, however, so I focused on helping them solve their problems with insurance and I did okay by most people’s standards, but I wasn’t fulfilled.

On the other hand, what I liked about network marketing was that I could continually talk to people about achieving their dreams and goals. I saw myself as a business consultant who helped people improve their lives financially.

The only problem I had was a great fear of public speaking (which is pretty much a game breaker in this industry). This stemmed from the fact that I had been laughed at in the second grade while trying to give a book report in front of the class. That event traumatized me and had paralyzed me from speaking in public ever since.

I told one of my mentors, who recruited me into the business that I didn’t like to speak in public. He said I wouldn’t have to do so, unless I wanted to and he would do the meetings for me.  What he didn’t tell me was that after my first 3 or 4 meetings I’d have to take my people to meetings he was doing, wherever they might be!

So after going crazy chasing him all over 3 counties in South Florida to have him show the business to my prospects, the day came when I got tired of dragging my prospects all over town, following him to wherever he was doing business presentations. I told him I’d try doing meetings myself.

He said it was no big deal.  All I had to do was make up some 3×5 cards with information I wanted to cover, tell people I was new at this and let them see how excited I was by the opportunity.  He said it would all work out.

He also gave me a book called The Magic of Thinking Big and pointed out the chapter on how to overcome fear. The cure for fear it turns out (and you might want to add this to your philosophy of life) was, “Action cures fear.” In other words do the thing you fear and the fear will disappear!

I followed his advice, made the 3×5 cards and even gave myself a pep talk in front of the bathroom mirror as he had suggested. I got myself all pumped up, but as I walked out of the bathroom and tried to put the 3×5 cards in my pocket, they fell on the floor. To make matters worse, I had forgotten to number them. As I panicked, I heard the host of the meeting introduce me. I freaked out.

Seconds later, I stood in front of about ten people, opened my mouth to speak… and nothing came out!  I finally started talking but my voice cracked. I sounded like a twelve-year-old girl in distress.

That night, I did a presentation that was supposed to take one hour… in about seven minutes. Then, I introduced my mentor as “the person who has taught me everything I know about this business” and he finished explaining everything I had forgotten in about forty-five minutes.

When he asked for questions, one guy actually said, “What do we have to do to get started?  Because if that guy can do it, anybody can!”

That night, I became determined to succeed at public speaking. It took a while—at the beginning the only one who laughed at my jokes was me—but something kept driving me forward. I secretly had a deep desire to perform, but I also had a big fear of rejection and failure.

Remember, early in my life I was a performer. I was the star running back on the football team.  I loved to sing and dreamed of being the lead singer in a band. The seed of the dream to be a public speaker was inside me.

I needed to build some confidence, develop my own speaking style and acquire the right skills. People say “practice makes perfect” but it’s really, “perfect practice makes perfect” and since I had some good mentors guiding me and some good speakers to model, I improved rapidly.

I did presentations day after day and even gave speeches in my car.  After a while, I got really good at it.

Today, if you ask me what I love to do so much that I lose track of time and go into timeless awareness, it’s teaching people the universal principles of success—and doing it in public venues.

In fact, the larger the audience, the better I like it and the more fun I have. In the past twenty-eight years, I’ve spoken to several million people. I’ve put on events where we had over 67,000 people in a soccer stadium for two-day business and personal development seminars.

This is my purpose in life—to teach people how to achieve success, happiness and wealth. I’ve grown a lot, both personally and financially by pursuing my purpose. I’m on a constant journey, learning, evolving and coming into conscious oneness with my higher self. I know my purpose and am committed to use my talents to contribute to humanity.

The more I share and give, the more fulfillment and success I create in my own life. In a way, I feel like the lead singer in a band.  I’m able to make people feel good and bless their lives by sharing my talents. It took a long time for me to figure this out but I didn’t really have anyone guiding me down this path.

I’m here to help you figure out what your TRUE purpose in life really is. Whatever it is has to resonate with you. It has to turn you on, light your fire, fire you up and drive you with a passion that cannot be quenched other than by you living that purpose!

In my next article I’m going to walk you through an exercise that will really help you get in tune with your passions and find your purpose in life. There is nothing more rewarding than knowing and living your purpose… anything else is trying to climb the ladder of success while its leaning against the wrong wall. And that only leads to frustration, confusion and burnout so stay tuned and until then…

Why Am I Here?

On June 14, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

The second step of the Ultimate Success Formula is all about defining clearly what you desire in life. To create your ideal life, you must know exactly what you want.  In other words, what is your Point B? To begin, let’s start with how you define success.

Today I personally define success as the continued expansion of happiness by knowing who I really am and expressing ever-greater levels of life, love and beauty. It comes about as the result of living life by universal principles with an accurate philosophy of life that brings happiness and fulfillment.

How do we create this philosophy of life? In my experience, the best place to start is with our purpose. I believe we were all put on this earth for a reason and that reason serves the rest of humanity because in reality we are all One.

The way to find your purpose is to discover your true essence. As you learned in the last chapter, you are an individualization of God so your essence is Spirit.  When you know this, you know that you are unlimited pure potential and have unlimited power to manifest what you truly desire.

Additionally, we have gifts, talents and abilities that are uniquely ours and there’s at least one thing you can do better than anyone else. When you’re doing this thing, you enjoy it so much that you lose track of time.  You go into what’s called “timeless awareness.”

Since the expression of your talent serves a purpose that meets the needs of the rest of humanity, you will be living your “Point B,” your successful, happy life, enjoying perfect self-expression.

Have you discovered your purpose in life yet? One way to do this is to examine what you liked to do earlier in life before too much training and conditioning took hold. What did you want to be when you were growing up?  Was it something you really loved to do, like dance, sing, play football or baseball, perform in some way or be a fireman, policeman, or doctor?  Think about it a second.

Many people will tell you they wanted to be a lot of things but weren’t good enough at any of them. Most of us were not that disciplined when we were young, so we may not have discovered our true talents and gifts… but we all had tendencies.

To be truly great at anything no matter how much native ability you might have, you still have to do it over and over and over to perfect your skills. The greatest basketball player in history, Michael Jordan, wasn’t even a starter on his High School basketball team until his junior year!

We’re usually interested in certain things during our youth that are in the same general area of interest as our core purpose. We will need to hone our skills and develop the drive, discipline and vision to make the most of our gifts, but they usually are in view when we are young and developing.

For example, when I was a kid I wanted to be a football player and I also wanted to be lead singer in a band.  I spent hours per day playing football pretending to be the star running back scoring numerous touchdowns every game. Then I’d go home at night and sign in my room pretending to be Paul McCartney signing all the top Beatles songs.

My parents strongly encouraged me to become something “worthwhile” and “respectable” (preferably an attorney) since I had a facility for learning but I really didn’t want to do that.  Since I lacked a dream that required an advanced education, I didn’t go to college.

I guess all along I had this desire to perform and do something that people enjoyed watching and made them feel good! I had no idea back then that there were many ways to perform and produce these same feelings in others and myself in ways that would bless all of us which I’ll share with you in my next article.

So now its your turn… what did you like to do when you were younger. What activities made you feel good about yourself and enjoy life? What did you like to do and what were you relatively good at? You don’t have to have been a superstar at it just things list some things you loved doing and had some native ability at. Take a few minutes to brainstorm this with yourself, remember what you felt and really tap into those feelings.

In the next article in our series we will use these affinities to determine your purpose and get you on the road to achieving your dreams! Until then…

How to Change Your Identity!

On June 11, 2012, in Blog, by Carlos

In my last article I asked you to really get honest with yourself and write down who you are right now, in other words your self-concept or Identity. This is who you really believe yourself to be right now based on your thoughts, beliefs and actions. Now, I want to take you through an exercise I call, The Future of Your Past Conditioning.

To get started, look at what you wrote down previously and now write down how the negative parts of your identity have affected you up to this moment in your life. To do this simply follow the guidelines by answering the pertinent questions below.

The Questions:

What has your identity, your belief about yourself cost you in terms of relationships with your loved ones?

What has it cost you in your relationship with yourself?

What has it cost you in your relationship with other people?

What has it cost you in terms of your physical body, your health, and your energy?

What has it cost you in your self-esteem, your self-worth, and your love for yourself?

What has it cost you in financial terms?  How much money have you lost?

What has it cost you, this identity of yours, in terms of your career opportunities?

What has it cost you spiritually and emotionally in your level of happiness, joy and fulfillment?

What has it cost you in your relationship with your God?

Allow yourself to feel the pain, because the more you connect with it right now the better it will be.

Now I want you to focus on that pain and all of these feelings of inadequacy and think about how your life will be five years in the future if you don’t change and you keep being who you are right now with all of your shortcomings and failures. Stop reading for a minute and visualize that painful outcome and really connect with the pain.

******************************************************

Now that you’ve experienced the pain of not changing and going forward in life with the same old identity, realize that none of this has happened yet, and you are in time to change your future.  So stand up and shake out your body, dust yourself off as if you fell and landed in a pile of dirt so you get rid of the negative energy from that visualization… this is important.

This is just a picture of what could be if you don’t change.  You’re on a course to somewhere, based upon who you are today.  But if you change, that destination will be totally different.

Are you now motivated now to start designing who you really want to be?  Who you really deserve to be?

Remember:

God doesn’t make losers; God doesn’t make average; God only makes great.  We choose to lose or be average.

A Future Created On Purpose

You don’t have to choose to lose—you can choose to win. You don’t have to choose average—you can choose outstanding.  So right now, with this level of motivation, let me ask you this, Who do you really want to be in every area of your life?

Who do you want to be spiritually… emotionally… physically… as a man or a woman… as a spouse… as a parent… as a friend… for yourself… as a businessperson… financially?

What do you want to do with your life?

What is the purpose and passion that you’re committed to living?

What legacy do you want to leave behind?

Take a few minutes right now and really get clear about who you are going to be as a person for the rest of your life. I mean, really get honest as to who you would be if you could be anyone you desire to be. Then we’ll come back and have some real fun.

Stop reading for a moment and write down who you want to be.

**********************************************

Now that you’re clear on who you really want to be, let’s do an exercise that will help you to lock in your new vision and empower you to start living it daily. I call this one “Your Future Designed on Purpose.”

I want you to imagine that you are already the fantastic, successful, wealthy person you just finished describing.  And, you have been living this way for five years.

How do you feel?  What are you thinking?

How great is your life?

How great are your relationships?

How is your financial situation? Your career?

What emotional states do you live in regularly?

What kind of life have you created for yourself?

What vacations are you taking?

Where are you going? Who are you going with?

Where are you living?

What does your house look like?

Is it by the ocean, on a mountain, on a lake?

What do you do for fun?

What lifestyle do you have?

What abilities and skills do you have?

What do you do on a daily basis?

How have you positively affected your partner or spouse?

How of you positively affected your children?

How have you affected your important relationships?

How have you impacted the world positively?

What legacy are you creating?

Are you living your purpose?

How does it feel to live your passion?

How great is your life?

I want you to really feel those incredible emotions, the joy, the ecstasy, the passion, the success, the physical energy. How great do you feel? How much are you enjoying your life? What is it like?

Doesn’t it feel wonderful to decide who you are and create your own destiny?  Stop reading for a couple of minutes, close your eyes and see, hear and feel what it’s like to be this new “Super You” with your new Identity. Really enjoy the feeling!

******************************************************

I want you to understand that if you can imagine it, you can attain it.  The more you imagine it and feel yourself living that life and having that future, the easier it is to create it automatically.

Your assignment now is to take the exercise that you’ve done and write a statement of your new Identity, describing exactly the person that you now are with this new, chosen identity.

Write it in the first person permissive: “I allow myself to be…” or “I choose to be…”  I teach it this way so there is no conflict with your subconscious mind saying “hey, this is b.s., it’s not true,” as you find yourself psychologically reversed again. By writing it this way you are choosing or allowing yourself to already be that person as you lovingly suggest to your subconscious mind to make it real.

Read this statement every morning upon arising and every evening before you go to bed.  Remember, as you keep your attention focused on that which you choose or allow, you create it and make it part of your reality.

In the next article in our series we will learn how to begin to design your life on purpose to get more of what you want in life and achieving your dreams! Until then…
